Discover the phases of the Moon over a lunar month of observation. This PDF includes Moon Observer cards to help children oberserve the Moon and identify which phase it is, along with a diary sheet to record their observations. I've included two observer cards on the sheet as A5 is a handy size for the cards.
To help you plan your observation times, you can search on Google for 'moonrise today'. There are websites and apps that you can check but they will also tell you the phase, which slightly spoils the fun of your observations! I find it's best to plan a few days ahead as the best time may be early the day and you don't want to miss it. Expect to miss some days due to cloud cover.
The Moon pictures are hand-drawn by me in ink and appear in the book The Tree That Held The Moon.
